A wonderful tradition continues
For the past five decades, Hubert the Lion has represented the friendly and approachable face of banking. While his likeness has changed over the years, Hubert remains a familiar friend, beloved and trusted by children and adults alike. Hubert continues to serve as an ambassador for BMO Harris Bank. Watch for him in our ads and at events in your community.
1958—Hubert was born when agency Leo Burnett was asked to create a warm, friendly spokesperson to support a new venture into retail banking.

Hubert circa 1960—Hubert regularly appeared in TV commercials, decked out in dollar signs and speaking with a distinct British accent.
1960s—1970s —As the years rolled along, Hubert tweaked his appearance to keep up with the latest looks. Here are a few examples of how our loveable ambassador has changed with the times.

Over the years—Hubert has lent his likeness to all kinds of collectables, including ceramic cookie jars, banks, clocks and even bath mats. Plus, over 350,000 of our popular Hubert plush dolls have been given out over the years.
Today—Hubert regularly makes appearances in ads and also gets out of the bank as often as he can to help support communities far and wide. And now, the ambassador of BMO Harris Bank welcomes you!
